India’s leading contemporary brand Dhruv Kapoor starts a Godzilla collaboration as part of their Fall/Winter 2023 menswear collection on the catwalk at Fashion Week in Milan. Dhruv Kapoor’s work remains an excellent reflection of a contemporary society that upholds the values of freedom, vitality, eternity and the realization of our greatest potential as individuals and communities. Through a collaboration with the Godzilla brand, this transgressive message explores “The Awakening.” At the intersection of high fashion and pop culture, Dhruv Kapoor x Godzilla features iconic characters such as Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla, uniting cutting-edge contemporary design with the rich heritage of Godzilla, who first appeared on the big screen in 1954 in Japan’s Gojira. Since then, more than 35 films have been made, spawning a multi-billion dollar franchise and a global fandom that has continued to grow over several decades.
Kapoor draws a parallel between Godzilla’s infamous monsters and our alter-egos, portraying the former’s true powers as a means to embrace, protect and restore our whole being. The unisex capsule explores oversized draped shirts and comic book kimono shirts alongside oversized designer windbreakers and character T-shirts. All fantastic prints and silhouettes to explore an unexplored side of you.
Kristin Parcell, CEO of Toho International says: “Dhruv Kapoor’s aesthetic and focus on sustainability fit well with the themes and characters of the franchise, making this the perfect collaboration for the legendary Godzilla’s first steps on the Milan runway. We are sure fans will be impressed with this ready-to-wear fashion collection.”
