‘Making it Maximum’ is a worthy successor to ‘Fashion Files’

Longtime Cagesiders will know that I don’t take that title claim lightly.

Breezang’s 2017-2018 YouTube Series/Show. she was brilliant in professional wrestling. Tyler Breeze, Fandango and their many collaborators — most notably The Ascension’s Konnor and Viktor — created an absurdist adult comedy that made the most of the inherently ridiculous environment they found themselves in (mostly backstage SmackDown).

He parodied and paid homage to other pop culture, ranging from Law and order to Stranger Things…and in one amazing offer, he even gave us more Twin Peaks that every wrestling fan who appreciates David Lynch ever thought they would see on WWE television. Through it all, they were all doing what makes all the best tricks work. They completely devoted themselves to the beat.

Most of the Maximum Male Models team lost that last part from the start. ma.cé and mån.sôör… well, they agreed to spell their names that way, so that tells you a lot.

However, since Max Dupri left the group and became LA Knight again, the performance really took off. Unfortunately, unless you check WWE’s YouTube channel on Thursdays, you probably missed “Making it Maximum,” MMM’s “Fashion Files”-like offering. But I’m here to tell you that you should get it right.

Instead of the spoof network procedurals of “Fashion Files,” “Making it Maximum” leans toward the kind of reality show you’d find on Bravo. The main story focuses on the sister of Knight’s old character, Maxxine Dupri, who runs MMM in his absence and is convinced that the group needs a third model. mån.sôör disagrees, while ma.cé can barely function in the world, let alone weigh in on agency politics.

The episodes were good, but with the one they dropped last week, they finally reached “Fashion Files” status.

Where do I even begin with all the things that drove me crazy from that video? With a Rick Martel reference at the beginning? ma.cé’s emotional prison face?

The skit from the team meeting at 2:50 deserves its own post. I was laughing about ma.cé “missing” random things his teammates mentioned in their discussion when Maxxine channeling LA Knight pissed me off. Then this shot of ma.cé charging… erm, I mean rolled over all.

Brennan Williams (a former NFL player who helps make this act work after trying everything in his power to make RETRIBUTION entertaining) deserves some sort of award for the final third. His reaction to his own missing poster is another laugh-out-loud moment, and the excitement he shows after finding “downtown” perfectly sets up his downcast delivery about not being worthy of entering it.

Anyway, check out “Making it Maximum”. Like “Fashion Files”, it won’t last long. But if more people find it, it’ll be around longer… and maybe even get some TV time.

Basically, please, I need you to help MMM find their little precious baby, little baby, flower boy. #WheresMace
