Morecambe 2-1 Cheltenham Town – BBC Sport

Morecambe made it three wins from three to climb out of the League One relegation zone thanks to a narrow 2-1 win over Cheltenham.

Goals from Jensen Weir and Kieran Phillips either side of Alfie May’s equalizer gave Derek Adams’ side another home win.

The Shrimps took the lead after 20 minutes after a great break.

A long ball forward found Weir, who played a one-two with Phillips before scoring his ninth goal of the season in all competitions with a cool finish.

Morecambe continued to dominate with Caleb Watts and Phillips denied by penalties before the Robins grabbed an equalizer on the run of play when May raced into the box and slotted a fine low shot past Connor Ripley.

Shrimp took the lead for the second time two minutes after the restart. After another quick counter, Watts crossed for Phillips who scored from close range at the second attempt.

Phillips was denied a second by a superb save from Luke Southwood and Sean Long almost cleaned up his own net with a shot that hit the post as Morecambe continued their impressive reversal of fortune.
