Take a peek at all the fashion trends you’ll see in the new series of Love Island

Just a little more and it’s here! A brand new season The island of winter love returns to our screens next week and while we can’t wait to see what kind of drama the new cast will bring – it’s the outfits we’re most excited about. Partnering with eBay and already beloved pro Amy Bannerman for the second season in a row, Island of love contestants will wear a wardrobe carefully selected from previously loved items.

Not only does this mean that actors can now wear designer brands, but it also means that almost every outfit we’ll see on screen will be vintage with the aim of spreading the conversation about circular fashion. It won’t surprise you that since the partnership began, popular fashion searches have grown by a whopping 1600% (!) on the site.

eBay x Island of love they first paired up in August 2022 for the eighth season, in which Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti were crowned the winners. But it was runner-up Tasha Ghouri who won us over in the style stakes, stealing the show with some real fashion moments (remember that Jean Paul Gaultier two-piece??). And before you ask, no, crew members aren’t actually supposed to keep their clothes.

For the ninth season, the team is back to give us more tailoring gold and we got a glimpse of all the fashion trends we can expect in the villa…

Tutti Frutti

Bright, bold and beautiful. The Tutti Frutti trend, curated by Bannerman, is all about eye-popping color and prints. Look out for acid-bright Versace two-pieces, plenty of tie-dye, bomber jackets and, of course, the ‘It’ Poster Girl dresses from last season are back again. Tasha Ghouri’s real birthday dress (a previously beloved Versace latex number) will travel to South Africa to be worn again in the villa as part of this trend.

A trend inspired by no less than pop-punk power couple Kourtney and Travis, Bannerman revealed. Keep your eyes open for leather (lots of it), capes and oversized biker jackets. As this series takes place in South Africa, the January climate means the skin is comfortable, without the risk of competitors breaking a sweat (for the wrong reasons) on hot dates. Standout pieces include a Paco Rabanne chain maxi dress and chain tank tops. Paris Hilton would be proud.

Refined denim

It’s no secret that Islanders love hot denim shorts. This season, expect plenty of favorite denim (the best way to buy denim) throughout the series. Bannerman’s team selected oversized denim jackets for boys and girls, along with tailored denim shorts, cropped denim tops and Y2K-style hems – perfect for spring/summer ’23.

Job vs. Fun

Think vintage tailoring, oversized jackets and neat waistcoats. For Island of love take, elegant jackets and trousers will be worn with sparkling bras and silk shirts. For boys, it’s all about relaxed yet stylish pieces, soft fabrics and light fastenings. Look out for the Kate Moss for Topshop vest, which we think will be a favorite with Islanders.

Now, bring on the bombs!
